CDL Driver (Canada)

Leading Edge National Staffing is currently recruiting CDL Drivers for a unique and exciting opportunity with a leading rail inspection services company operating across Canada.

Position Overview

This is a field-based position requiring extensive travel throughout Canada for extended periods of time. The CDL Driver will operate specialized rail inspection vehicles, support testing operations, and ensure compliance with all transportation and safety regulations.

What You’ll Do

Vehicle Operation & Driving
• Operate commercial vehicles, including hi-rail trucks and rail-bound inspection vehicles.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain driver logs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Safely operate vehicles on roadways and railroad tracks.

Rail Inspection & Operations Support

• Assist with rail flaw detection testing and data collection.
• Monitor and interpret data using onboard computer systems.
• Conduct ground-level rail inspections using specialized equipment.

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including checking fluids, filters, and general upkeep.
• Assist with equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies and transportation regulations.
• Wear required PPE at all times.
• Complete all mandatory safety training.
• Report safety concerns and equipment issues promptly.

Travel Requirements

• Extensive travel across Canada.
• Assignments may require travel for 3–4 months at a time.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and environments.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence or higher with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Ability to pass required medical and employment screenings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

Preferred

• 2+ years of commercial driving experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Climb ladders and steps frequently.
• Walk on uneven terrain and railroad surfaces.
• Bend, kneel, squat, and crawl as required.
• Work in confined spaces.
• Lift up to 85 lbs. and occasionally assist with heavier loads.
